Greek Nouveau Chandelier Earrings

New to the Shop Greek Nouveau Chandelier Earrings

Elegant and ornately detailed these earrings remind me of something the ancient Greeks would fancy. The faceted bronze czech glass fire polished bead stands out delightfully as it is captured between two brass watch gears and then framed by a pair of simple white beads. These earrings with their steampunk flare really embrace a new take on an Ancient Greek look hence they are named Greek Nouveau. These earrings measure 1.25 inches (3.1cm) in length from the bottom of the brass ear wire and are .5 of an inch (1.2 cm) wide.

These took me a bit to piece together and I am loving how it turned out. This is the first time I've used gears as bead caps and the fine detailed look they give is amazing! Although I doubt I will be making another pair of these specific earrings, I do look forward to utilizing the gears like these as bead caps in more of my creations.

Revenants

Two new items in the shop today! Actually they are slight variations of each other but I'm very pleased to be upping my game as it were with higher quality items. Both of these earrings feature gemstones of the feldspar group of minerals sunstone and moonstone.

Stunning and elegant these earrings have their own story to tell, as they honor the cross culture mythology of butterflies, which are believed to be the souls of the deceased, by having a haunting air of ethereal art nouveau, combined with antique mechanical elements. On top of that these are graced with genuine sunstone gemstones which glitter in celestial brilliance.

The name of these earrings was choosen based on mythology dealing with butterflies click here for a link to a page about it.

Here's what Merriam Webster has to say about the word Revenant:
" * Main Entry: rev·e·nant
* Pronunciation: \ˈre-və-ˌnäⁿ, -nənt\
* Function: noun
* Etymology: French, from present participle of revenir to return
* Date: 1818
: one that returns after death or a long absence"

As you can see this word is from the 1800s to give the earrings that much deserved steampunk flare.

Yesterday's Listings

Here's the new items up on etsy

Pirate's Pike Earrings
They are a bit pricey because I had to remove the loop at the top of the skull and crossbones charm. Then carve out the back portion of and widen the skull charms so they would sit correctly on the spikes. All of that paid off to make a wickedly good pair of pirate earrings.

Elegant Deco - Chandelier Earrings
I've made several pairs of these before I started my etsy store but I've had to update the design with doing actual wire wrapped loops pricey again because of the wrapping work, sterling silver wire, and the fact that swarovski's are a b*tch to deal with I cracked one on this pair and had to discard it and redo one of the dangling bars.

Lately I've been in a wire wrapping mood and I'm planning a bracelet with some faceted turquoise beads and I have a matching bracelet for the Elegant Deco set but for some odd reason I just haven't put it up yet. On the flip side I'm working hard on the steamteam competition piece which is an acrylic on canvas painting! The contest is titled "Time Flies" but I decided to do my piece without the use of wings as a challenge to myself so far it looks pretty good and pics will be posted when it's finished.
I've got 5 jewelry pieces that need to be assembled and a horde of items to list in my destash/supply shop. On top of that I need to turn in more headshots and reformat my resume for the acting stuff and get that done by tues then I'm eager to see what I learn next in the lost wax class I should take pics of the ring before I send it off too!

Seven Items and More Interesting things

Today was utilized in the completion of seven items six of which are the long awaited steampunk style ones (which were sitting around waiting for supplies to arrive) and one is sorta neo-victorian. I will be getting all of these up tomorrow and perhaps even finish the next chastity in chains necklace and get that up as well in addition to that I just remembered that I have another version of spiked earrings to put up too. Geeze I've been busy in the past few days.
Also the steampunk petite locket is a hit and I plan on making more of those little guys and perhaps one for me too ^_^ but I dunno.
Going on with the conscious stream of thought writing....I had to remove the Pulchritudinous Gear Pendant because I can't find it at the moment =(

Now on the other interesting things...
I was farting around with the Geolocator thinggy on etsy and the only other person listed in my area is a person who lives in my apartment complex and has taken pics showing an outside wall of my apt (how scandalous =P). She also has three kitties and I sent her a convo on the site. It's pretty amusing how things are funny like that.
This is all for now oh and I shall leave you with a sneak peek at one piece:

Today is Today

Let me start with saying I love the Dattebayo trolls the HDTV Bleach is awesome.

Now on the real stuff, today I cleaned up a bit and swept under the couch but because I dropped a whole strand of pearls mixed with sterling silver spacers which made me cry and then clean. Fortunately I found all of the sterling silver spacers and missed a few pearls somewhere =( but the floor is nicely swept.
The bat topped hair sticks can now be seen on etsy and getting the ring up is a pain because for some reason purples do not come out well with the camera and correcting the color is a nightmare because I have terrible color perception, (which makes me wonder how I manage to paint with colors, then again I do stick with vibrant colors) but it will be up once I can figure that out.
The things I'm working on today are a different color of vintage lucie flower hair sticks. I bought some more dye and they have been dyed a bright blue. Also right when I was running out of my supply of these guys (I only have one more pair of flowers after these blue ones) I happened across some more yesterday. The other item I'm working on deals with the strand that was dropped and it is a lovely necklace with my second attempt at using crimps; the first attempt was 10+ years ago. SO as I'm making this necklace I'm being super careful and over cautious with the crimps and crimp covers with which I'm using dainty amounts of glue to make sure they are totally secure because I really don't like things breaking or sitting wrong ect. Being a perfectionist is quite a burden V_V. Also with in the typing of this I came up with a bracelet to match the necklace so sometime in the near future I must visit beads beads.

I hope that my babbleings did not hurt someone's brain today as it seems to be all over the place.

Whims and Musings

I want to do video blogging but I must devise a way to do this I could snag my hubby's compy for part of the day when he's not using it or I could do it the hard way and set up a camera and do all that stuff.
Anywhoo I'm here at the greatest coffee / tea place ever! The Funnel Mill. And they really know their stuff, for example: white tea should steep with mildly warm water or else it will burn the tea. They serve all of their drinks with a little snack of perfectly salted and roasted peanuts (had some with my coffe today) or these really unique green tea flavored pumpkin seeds with the teas. The prices are a tad high but with the pampering you get of having your drink served on a sliver platter or wooden tea thinggy and the snack it is really worth it! Also something weird that they do but is appreciated at the same time is you don't pay when you order you have to remember to pay when you leave. It's strange and kinda makes me paranoid that I'm going to forget to pay or what if other people forget to pay before they leave. However, I find it somewhat relaxing, less wasteful with receipts, and less of a hassle for them because I end up ordering several things when camping out the day here to work on writing or reading scripts.

So on to creations things that I'm working on right now and the stages they are in:
Vegas Spikes and Dice hairsticks nearly complete I need to finish tarnishing silver and I have to get that sulfur stuff - ummmm rotten egg smell!
Grow Cube influenced hairsticks =D I'm such a geek and these are nearly finished but I'm having conflicted views on how to complete them and I just got a new idea for them but it would take a while to get them done that way. So I think I'll stick with the original concept and do a variation later on.
Nightlight charity necklace Nearly done I have some adjustments to make and I need to figure out how to make it hang down right. Then I will post on the etsy forums to have people help out nightlight by buying charms and making jewelry from it. For more info got to: http://www.nightlightbangkok.com/index2.htm
Martire Golgotha version 1 This will be the last version of the martire out of the 16 gauge coated copper wire and I will be converting to the sterling silver with copper core and then to half hard silver wire when I have the money to buy it and some extra wire for Kieu ^_^
Duality - painting for charity Nearly done I have to perfect the lines then go over it with the lightening and darkening so that it is not so harsh on the eyes. This is the largest painting I've done so far and it has been more challenging than I thought it would be. I paint for Mosaic http://www.mosaic.org/ and I am very grateful to be doing it because I got me back into painting and has been an amazing resource of inspiration.
Broadcast painting Gah I'm such a lazy painter this is a painting I'm doing for myself and it is a great concept and not even close to done yet. I could really use an artist studio a nice gray concrete room with a window and internet access.
Lightning Strikes - Munny painting It's been gessoed and it's been guessoed for over a year =( I fail ...so lazy.
Gears of the heart Heart on fire - Painting This is at the end of the concept stage where it has been finalized and sketched, next I start getting it on the canvas but this will not happen until I finish Boradcast.
